Ado-Ekiti’s Oluyemi Kayode Stadium is set to come alive as the Ekiti State Chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), backed by the Ekiti State Government, launches the first-ever Disabilities Athletics Championship.
The two-day event kicks off today, featuring athletes from across the state competing in various categories, including the Deaf, Blind, Physically Challenged, and Albino divisions.
Chairman of the event’s organizing committee, Coach Peter Ojo, lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his unprecedented support in making the championship a reality. Coach Ojo assured that all facilities, media, medical, and security arrangements are in place for the competition, which will spotlight talents from Ekiti’s 16 Local Government Areas. Top performers will receive medals, certificates, trophies, and cash prizes, with standout athletes potentially advancing to national competition.
