Time To Embrace New Tech For Effective Road Traffic Violations Management-Prof. Adegboyega

The former Ekiti State coordinator for road safety, Professor Joseph Adegboyega, has highlighted the impact of new technologies like red-light cameras and speed cameras in reducing traffic violations.

He made these remarks while speaking at a conference themed “Leveraging Technology for Improved Traffic Management and Enforcement: The Digital Approach.” Professor Adegboyega emphasized that the event was not only for presentations but also provided an opportunity for participants to raise concerns and ask questions about traffic management.

The conference was officially opened by the Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Ayodele Joseph Babalola, who reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to contributing to societal development. He expressed appreciation to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for boosting a supportive environment that enables the university’s management to thrive.

In his remarks, the Zonal Commanding Officer of the Road Safety Headquarters in Ilorin, Assistant Chief Marshal Chichebem Onukwubiri, stressed the collective responsibility for road safety. He called on the public to support special marshals in minimizing road crashes.

During an interview with jiroltv, Pastor Samuel Arogundade, Deputy Coordinator for Special Marshal in Ekiti State, explained that the conference aimed to educate the public on proper road behavior and safety practices. He noted that Ekiti State falls within Zone 8, which also includes Kogi and Kwara states.

Mr. Adedayo Ayodeji Olukayode, a Special Marshal and Financial Secretary for Unit 5, Ado Ekiti, emphasized the shared responsibility among all road users, including motorcycle riders, drivers, and pedestrians. He highlighted that the government-organized conference aimed to equip attendees with knowledge on leveraging digital technology for safer road use.
