President Tinubu Applauds Oyebanji’s Leadership at Anniversary Thanksgiving

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his exemplary statesmanship, urging him to maintain his leadership style as he marks his second anniversary in office. Speaking at a thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church, Anglican Communion, Ado Ekiti, the President, represented by Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, praised Oyebanji’s efforts to engage citizens in governance and drive development across Ekiti State.

The thanksgiving service drew prominent figures, including former Governors Niyi Adebayo, Ayodele Fayose, and Kayode Fayemi, as well as Christian and Muslim clerics who led prayers for the governor. Senator Bamidele reassured the congregation of the President’s commitment to supporting the governor’s infrastructure projects, such as the ongoing construction of a flyover, which has faced criticism in some quarters. He called on Gov.Oyebanji to remain focused on his duties while letting political players engage in their games.

Governor Oyebanji, in his address, expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged the contributions of former governors, lawmakers, and other stakeholders to the state’s achievements. He extended special thanks to President Tinubu for his continued backing. Former Governor Kayode Fayemi, speaking on behalf of his predecessors, lauded Oyebanji’s governance for strengthening peace and development in Ekiti, emphasizing the collective endorsement of his leadership and ongoing efforts.

The event also saw Anglican Bishop Most Rev Andrew Ajayi urging Oyebanji to uphold equity and justice in his administration. He advised the governor to focus on creating an environment conducive to growth, which would serve as a lasting legacy after his tenure. Similarly, Catholic Bishop Most Rev Felix Ajakaye described Oyebanji as a bridge-builder, attributing his widespread support to his inclusive governance approach.

The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, senators, traditional rulers led by HRM Oba Ilori Faboro, and a host of political figures, traders, and community members, reflecting a broad cross-section of Ekiti society.
