ADOLFRIC Medicare Offers Lifeline to Adolescents with Up to 70% Medical Coverage

As part of International Adolescent Health Week 2024, the Adolescent Friendly Research Initiative and Care (ADOLFRIC) has announced an expansion of its Medicare program, offering 50-70% coverage for medical and surgical costs for vulnerable adolescents aged 10-24.

The initiative focuses on addressing sexual and reproductive health issues through partnerships with private health facilities, ensuring high-quality and affordable healthcare for both in-school and out-of-school youths.

ADOLFRIC Medicare covers a range of services, including antenatal care, surgeries for conditions like ectopic pregnancy, fibroids, and appendicitis, as well as treatments for sexually transmitted infections and gender-based violence. According to Tosin Olowo, Director of Corporate Affairs and Social Responsibility, the program aims to alleviate the financial burden faced by disadvantaged adolescents, especially in light of the ongoing global economic challenges.
