The National Old Students Association Otun Comprehensive High School (OCHS), Otun-Ekiti, has bestowed a landmark honour upon Professor Olofinbiyi Babatunde, marking him as the first Professor of Medicine to emerge from the school.
Professor Olofinbiyi, a renowned gender advocate and expert in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Adolescent Reproductive Health at Ekiti State University College of Medicine, was celebrated for his immense contributions to the medical field. As CEO of the Adolescent Friendly Research Initiative and Care (ADOLFRIC), his work continues to elevate the image of OCHS and demonstrate his commitment to adolescent reproductive health.
Adding to his accolades, Professor Olofinbiyi is the first medical officer to benefit from the Ekiti State Government’s in-service sponsorship program, a scheme that helped shape him into the state’s first consultant trained through this initiative. This achievement further cements his standing as a pioneer in healthcare and academia.
During the ceremony, Professor Olofinbiyi expressed his gratitude by establishing the Olofinbiyi Kolawole Memorial Academic Prizes in honour of his late father. These annual awards will recognise the top JSS1 and SS3 students, both male and female, in the final School Certificate Examinations, fostering academic excellence for future generations.
Other distinguished alumni were also celebrated, including HRH Oba Adegbenro Falore, the Onifaki of Ifaki Ekiti, and Prince Adetoyi Olabode, former Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security.
Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Ibrahim Olarewaju, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on House of Assembly Matters, Prof. Ogunlusi Dare, Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Ikole Ekiti, and several respected retired teachers from OCHS.
