The BAO Agenda 2026 Group has congratulated Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in the gubernatorial election held on Saturday. In a statement signed by the group’s State Coordinator, Hon. Moshood Lawal (Bamayi), General Secretary, Hon. Oluwafemi Aduloju, and Public Relations Officer, Yewande Aribasoye, they hailed the triumph as a resounding victory for democracy.

The group described the election outcome as a reflection of the will of the Edo people, who decisively supported Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, over his rivals from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP). “This is a victory for the people of Edo State, who made the right choice by standing firm for their mandate,” the statement said.

The BAO Agenda 2026 group further noted that this win marks a turning point for the APC in the South-West, projecting that the party’s success will continue. They expressed confidence that the APC will replicate this victory in the upcoming Ondo State election in November with Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa and, by 2026, secure Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s re-election in Ekiti State.

In their congratulatory message, the group urged Senator Okpebholo to remain magnanimous in victory, ensuring inclusivity in his administration and fulfilling his campaign promises. They emphasized that his focus should be on improving the lives of Edo residents, with the welfare of the masses at the forefront of his agenda.

Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes to beat his closest opponent, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 247,274 votes in the September 21 governorship election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) on Sunday evening.
