Ekiti State’s “Ojuse BAO” initiative, led by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has distributed over ₦12 million to 51 beneficiaries, further solidifying its role as a beacon of hope for indigent citizens.
The program, designed to empower individuals across five sectors, continues to uplift the less privileged by providing business tools and financial aid, making strides towards self-sufficiency.
During the third edition of the call-ins program and close to two years of the initiative, Mrs. Sola Abe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, praised the governor’s commitment to ensuring all beneficiaries have access to essential resources. In addition to cash disbursements, beneficiaries also received industrial sewing machines, grinding machines, mixing tools, and cutting machines—critical equipment to help them kickstart small businesses and achieve financial independence.
To safeguard the program’s goals, the office partnered with wholesalers who will supply items directly to beneficiaries to avoid misuse of funds. Additionally, students facing tuition challenges received between ₦50,000 and ₦300,000, with payments made directly to their schools, while others with medical needs were supported to cover surgeries, including eye and leg procedures.
“The Ojuse BAO initiative is about more than just financial aid; it is about restoring dignity and creating opportunities for a brighter future,” Mrs. Abe emphasized, urging citizens to join hands in strengthening prosperity across Ekiti State.
Governor Oyebanji’s shared prosperity mantra continues to inspire others, as the program’s ripple effects extend to both the beneficiaries and the wider economy. The governor’s hands-on approach has ignited a wave of hope, encouraging well-meaning individuals to act as catalysts for change.
The event, which featured beneficiaries through the radio call-ins program and those who wrote letters, also saw the attendance of top state officials, including Secretary to the State Government Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, Commissioner for Information Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Special Adviser on Transformation Dr. Ekundayo, Special Adviser on Special Education Mrs. Adetoun Agboola, and Special Adviser on Tertiary Education Dr. Azeez Akeem.
The beneficiaries were encouraged to use the tools and funds provided wisely, ensuring that the impact extends beyond their own lives and serves as a beacon of hope for others in their communities.
