The Ekiti State Home Grown School Feeding Programme is poised for a relaunch after securing the approval of Governor Biodun Oyebanji. This development marks a significant step forward in the state’s commitment to enhancing educational welfare, particularly in the area of child nutrition.
As part of the preparations, the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investments initiated a comprehensive revalidation exercise for the food vendors involved in the program. This exercise saw the participation of over 2,000 vendors, ensuring that only qualified and vetted individuals will be serving meals to schoolchildren. The revalidation process was meticulously conducted across all 16 local government areas in the state, reflecting the administration’s dedication to thoroughness and accountability.
The final phase of the revalidation took place on Wednesday at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti. The event was overseen by Hon. Yemisi Ayokunle, the Special Adviser on Social Investments, who highlighted the importance of the program in supporting the educational journey of young students.
She also assured the public that the feeding of schoolchildren would resume shortly, attributing this progress to the proactive leadership of Governor Oyebanji, whom she referred to as the “People’s Governor.”
Hon. Ayokunle further expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose administration has played a crucial role in reinstating the school feeding program nationwide. The collaboration between state and federal governments is seen as a key factor in the successful implementation of this initiative, which aims to improve the health and academic performance of students across Ekiti State.
