BAO 2026: BOT Inauguration Strengthens Campaign for Oyebanji’s Re-election

... As Afuye Leads Charge with a Pledge of Total Commitment

The BAO Agenda 2026 group has further solidified its position as the leading campaign platform for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election with the formal inauguration of its Board of Trustees (BOT). This move distinguished the group as the only one with a robust and well-structured organization dedicated to the governor’s second-term bid.

The oath of office and allegiance was administered to the BOT members by the group’s legal adviser, stressing their commitment to the cource.

The BOT is chaired by the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, and includes other prominent political figures such as Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, the Secretary to the State Government; Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters; and several state commissioners, including Rt.Hon. Karounwi Oladapo (Physical Planning and Urban Development), Mr. Niyi Adebayo (Budget and Economic Planning), and Hon. Mrs. Tayo Adeola (Industry, Trade, Investment and cooperatives ). Also on the board are Engr. Bayo Ajayi, Hon. Mrs. Tokunbo Ajila, and Her Excellency Engr.Mrs. Kemisola Elebute-Halle.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Afuye, commended the group for its steadfast support of Governor Oyebanji. She described the overwhelming endorsements for the governor as a reflection of his exemplary performance, which she said was evident across various sectors. According to her, the group’s strong backing would serve as a significant boost for the governor, encouraging him to continue delivering democratic dividends to the people.

Mrs. Afuye emphasized that the numerous second-term endorsements were not mere formalities but were rooted in a genuine appreciation of the governor’s achievements since his inauguration on October 16, 2022. She highlighted ongoing projects like the Ado Ekiti flyover, the Ikere-Igbara Odo road, and several others as strategic efforts to attract investments and enhance the state’s infrastructure.

She also pointed out the government’s partnership with Cavista Holdings, which aims to revolutionize the agricultural sector and achieve food security through the involvement of young people in commercial farming. In addition, she lauded the administration’s commitment to human capital development, noting that over 3,000 individuals have been employed in the state civil service under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership.

The Deputy Governor also praised the First Lady, Prof. Olayemi Oyebanji, for her role in establishing the Adire Ekiti Hub, which has trained hundreds of youths in the art of Adire fabric making, thereby promoting self-reliance among the youth. She also mentioned the Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) Clinic, recently commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima, as a significant platform for youth empowerment and skill development.

Highlighting the administration’s dedication to civil service restructuring, Mrs. Afuye noted that the government has consistently prioritized the welfare of workers and pensioners, with recent measures including the release of N1 billion to clear outstanding gratuities and N365 million for housing and car loans.

Inaugurating the BOT members, Acting State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Sola Elesin, urged the group to remain united and focused on mobilizing support for Governor Oyebanji. He emphasized the need for a grassroots-driven campaign, emphasizing the importance of leaving no stone unturned in the effort to secure the governor’s re-election.

He also noted that the recent comment made by Vice President Sen.kashim Shettima where he declared that Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is the kind of Governors the country needs as a pointer that they must tow same path and maintain the strides for the sake of ekiti people.

The group’s Coordinator, Hon.Moshud Lawal(Bamayi )added that the group’s creation was inspired by the desire to ensure the continued improvement of the welfare of Ekiti people. He highlighted the group’s structure, which includes 23 executive members, 38 coordinators, and 177 mobilizers across the state, all of whom are dedicated to campaigning for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election.

The Secretary -General of the group and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties Hon.Oluwafemi Aduloju who introduced the members maintained that the members were diligently selected and scrutinized before certified fit for the task ahead welcoming them on board.

In furtherance of the governor’s ‘prosperity for all’ agenda, the group had already undertaken empowerment initiatives, including the distribution of free fuel to Okada riders in the state. Each rider received two liters of fuel, helping to improve their livelihoods while reinforcing the Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s commitment to the economic well-being of all citizens.

The BOT members, including Mrs. Afuye, Dr. Adubiaro, Hon. Olanrewaju,Rt.Hon. Oladapo, Mr. Adebayo, Hon. Mrs. Adeola, Engr. Ajayi, Hon. Mrs. Ajila, and Dr. Mrs. Elebute-Halle, are expected to provide strategic guidance and support to the group, ensuring that it remains a formidable force in the campaign for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election in 2026.
