The Director-General of Ekiti State Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC), Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa has called on the state’s youth to eschew nationwide protests and instead engage in constructive dialogue with the government.
Famuyiwa made the appeal during a series of radio and television appearances across Ekiti media outlets, including Ekiti FM, EKTV, Progress FM, MIDAS FM, Voice FM, and Cruise FM.
According to the BCOC head, recent protests across the country have failed to yield positive results and have instead led to loss of life and property damage. She urged the youth to work alongside the government and other stakeholders to address their concerns and promote peace.
“We must learn to talk to each other, to listen to each other’s concerns and work together towards a common goal of building a better future for ourselves and our children,” Famuyiwa said.
The Director-General emphasized the importance of youth involvement in the development process, stating that they have a vital role to play in shaping Ekiti State’s future. She also called on parents and guardians to provide guidance and mentorship to help young people navigate the challenges they face.
Famuyiwa encouraged the youth to take advantage of the programs and benefits offered by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration, and to refrain from giving hoodlums opportunities to loot and destroy public infrastructure.
