The Ekiti State Government has conducted a one-day induction training focusing on fundamental ethics and proficiency for newly hired education officers and therapists in government special schools.The initiative stresses the state’s commitment to enhancing special education services.

The training session took place at the Special School for the Blind in Ikere Ekiti, gathering participants from all three government special schools in the state.

Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, represented by Mrs. Funmilayo Fatoba, Senior Special Assistant on Rehabilitation and Mental Health, highlighted Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s dedication to children with special needs.She praised the Governor as a PWD-friendly leader who is attentive to the unique requirements of children with disabilities and the wider PWD community.

Princess Adetoun assured attendees of the state’s commitment to providing the necessary facilities and creating conducive learning environments for students, educators, and therapists alike.

Keynote speakers at the event included Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, DG Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship, Hon. Adetunji Aribasoye, SSA-OTSD, Alhaji Sulaiman Fattah, SSA Social Inclusion, Mr. Oludare Falana, Director (Personnel) Ekiti State Civil Service Commission, and Mr. Ojareche P.E, Director, Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education. They delivered lectures on punctuality, mindset shifts, classroom management, ethics, and professionalism, emphasizing the critical roles of commitment, integrity, and loyalty in their duties.

Principals of the government special schools—Mrs. Adu Olaide, Mr. Salami Oduitan, and Mrs. Ade-Okeya Kikelomo—urged the new officers to uphold high moral standards, adhere strictly to the school curriculum, and master effective lesson presentation methods.

Hon. Akinola Abimbola, SSA Governor’s Office, concluded the training with a vote of thanks, urging participants to implement the lessons learned in their daily interactions with special children.

The event also saw the presence of notable officials, including Alhaji Sulaiman Fattah, SSA Social Inclusion, Mrs. Funmilayo Fatoba, SSA Rehabilitation and Mental Health, Pst. Akinola Abimbola, SSA Governor’s Office, Hon. Gbenga Obanise, SA Disability Affairs, and Mrs. ‘Bisi Coker, SA Social Inclusion.
