Mr. Sunday Odekomaya, the APC Party Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA),has been charged with serious allegations of misappropriating funds designated for the party and local residents by concerned leaders and members in the council.
Some of the allegations according to a source include using taxpayer money to procure three cars for personal use and acquiring other illicit assets intended for community welfare.
Odekomaya has been reported to flaunt these assets to intimidate and harass party members, claiming his boss, Executive Chairman Mayor Dele Oshinowo, provided them.
Established by former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enhance government proximity, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA is now embroiled in controversy as its current leadership focuses on personal gains.
Odekomaya and Oshinowo are accused of diverting funds to procure cars for cronies, solidifying their political influence ahead of next year’s local government elections. This self-serving behavior misuse of resources meant for the community, leading to widespread discontent among party members and residents.
The misconduct threatens the stability of the APC and could prompt protests or investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Concerned party leaders urged swift action from party leaders to address the issues, emphasizing the need to replace Odekomaya with someone who prioritizes the interests of the people and the party. The current situation, marked by Odekomaya’s public boasting about his cars, according to the concerned leaders has left many disheartened and dissatisfied, highlighting the urgent need for competent and ethical leadership in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
