Governor Oyebanji’s 50 Million Community Development Drive Hailed by Leaders 

Community leaders in Ekiti State have praised Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his steadfast commitment to community development, as 50 million naira is disbursed for self-help projects across the state.

The commendation was voiced on Monday in Ado Ekiti during the disbursement event overseen by the Ministry of Rural and Community Development, led by Hon. Oluwafemi Abimbola Awe (FEMTEX).

Explaining the significance of the disbursement, Hon. Awe highlighted its continuation from a previous project initiated in 2021, aimed at supporting community self-help initiatives. He emphasized that the 50 million disbursed represents 30% of the remaining 50% of funds allocated by the government for the projects, indicating a significant step forward in community empowerment.

 

Urging accountability, Hon. Awe advised the 20 recipient communities, including Ikole, Ido Ekiti, and others, to utilize the funds judiciously as the ministry plans to conduct monitoring exercises to ensure proper utilization.

Hon. Awe emphasized Governor Oyebanji’s unwavering dedication to community development, citing the approval of 157 million naira for community assistance. The disbursement of 50 million naira to the 20 communities marks the beginning of the initiative, with subsequent batches B and C scheduled to follow soon.

Hon Oluwafemi Awe maintained that the Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is highly committed to the continuity drive of government hence his insistence on picking up the the project from where it ended from the immediate past administration rather than starting a new one, which he explained is a testimonial to his administration’s agenda to open up farmsteads and communities and by extension achieve his prosperity for all mantra.

The self help projects embarked upon by the various communities include fencing, town hall construction, palace renovations, market enhancement and more, reflecting a collective endeavor towards community betterment.
