Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Provides Lifeline to Elderly Citizens Facing Hardships

In a display of compassion, Ekiti State Governor Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has once again extended support to elderly citizens grappling with various challenges, offering them much-needed relief.

The governor’s gesture, facilitated through the Office of the Director-General of Community Communications led by Mrs. Mary Oso Omotoso, aimed to alleviate the plight of septuagenarians facing difficulties in their daily lives.

 

The intervention unfolded in three dimensions, beginning with a visit to 74-year-old Mr. Ofi Oluwapelumi Michael in Are-Ekiti. Mr. Michael, a retired News Print Printer who had worked for prominent newspaper companies, including Tribune and Punch, found himself battling glaucoma and struggling to sustain his soup-making business. Governor Oyebanji swiftly responded to his plight, providing financial assistance of two hundred thousand naira, along with food packages and cash to address his immediate needs. Moved to tears, Mr. Michael expressed gratitude for the governor’s prompt response and prayed for his success.

The journey continued to Ekute in Ado Ekiti, where the team visited 80-year-old Mrs. Victoria Oni, whose house roof was damaged by heavy rain. Mrs. Oni, a retired businesswoman, faced financial challenges in repairing her home. Governor Oyebanji provided her with cash assistance and pledged to explore further assistance to address her housing predicament.

The final stop was the home of Mrs. Cecelia Ajayi, a humble abode where the governor’s delegation delivered support. Mrs. Ajayi, visibly moved by the governor’s gesture, offered prayers and encouragement for his continued dedication to the welfare of the people.
