Ado-Ekiti Rotary Club Inducts New President, Honors Community Champions

Rotarian Akinwale Olasusi has been sworn in as the 41st President of the Ado-Ekiti Rotary Club, District 9125, pledging to build on the club’s legacy of service and empower future generations.

The investiture ceremony, held in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, also saw nine individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions to society.

Olasusi, in his acceptance speech, emphasized his commitment to continuing the club’s tradition of serving underprivileged communities, prioritizing access to quality education for young people. He expressed gratitude for the membership’s trust and vowed to uphold the club’s core values.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of individuals who have made significant contributions to societal development. Among the awardees were distinguished personalities like Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele,AVM Ojuawo,Engr.(Mrs)KEMI Josephine Elebute-Halle,MHR Yemi Adaramodu and Yeye Aare Modupe Babalola (represented by Professor Elizabeth Ojo), and Professor Femi Akinwumi, Ekiti Commissioner for Environment amongst others.

Expressing their appreciation for the recognition, the awardees reaffirmed their dedication to promoting human development and positive change.

Yeye Aare Babalola, through her representative, encouraged the younger generation to pursue education and strive for future success. Professor Susan Fabamise, chair of the investiture planning committee, highlighted the club’s ongoing commitment to education through initiatives like the “School on Wheel” program and textbook donations to students.

 

The event also featured a lecture by Dr. Adeyemi P.A. from Ekiti State University, who emphasized the importance of increased agricultural production for sustainable economic growth and addressed the challenges of fuel subsidy removal. Dr. Adeyemi urged the government to incentivize agriculture and encouraged citizens to embrace farming activities.

Three students were additionally awarded cash prizes for their exceptional performance in the club’s inaugural essay writing competition, with the overall winner receiving a 70,000 naira prize.

The Ado-Ekiti Rotary Club’s investiture ceremony marked a new chapter under President Olasusi’s leadership, showcasing both the club’s commitment to community service and its dedication to recognizing and supporting individuals who contribute positively to society.
