Governor Oyebanji Allocates N331 Million for Local Government Food Distribution Amid Economic Strain
In response to the prevailing economic challenges, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has authorized Local Government Chairmen and officials to procure and distribute food items worth N331 million across council areas.
This directive aims to alleviate the economic strain experienced by citizens amidst the current economic climate.
Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of local government involvement in mitigating economic hardship. During a meeting with local government officials in Ado-Ekiti, he stressed the necessity for councils to engage in agriculture as a proactive measure against future food crises.
The distribution of food items, he stated, will complement existing palliative measures initiated by the state government.
With a specific allocation of 25 bags of rice per ward in all local councils, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the non-partisan nature of the food distribution process.
He urged chairmen to collaborate with recognized community development associations to ensure equitable distribution.
Furthermore, the Governor urged chairmen to prioritize policies and programs aimed at alleviating current social and economic tensions among citizens. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the welfare of residents, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to national socio-economic improvement.
Governor Oyebanji also announced forthcoming economic relief programs to be rolled out by the state government, aiming to further alleviate economic strain on citizens.
Yinka Oyebode, Special Adviser, Media to the Governor, confirmed the governor’s commitment to improving the socio-economic condition of Ekiti State residents.
