In an inspiring account, 16-year-old SS2 student Michael Adejuwon from Christ Schools, Ado Ekiti, shared the profound impact of the collaboration between Ekiti and Lagos States in fabricating Dino bins. Speaking from the site of the initiative, Adejuwon expressed gratitude for the entrepreneurship training provided by the State Government, emphasizing the positive change it has brought to his life.
The ongoing collaboration involves 15 technicians from the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) working alongside nine local artisans in Ado Ekiti. The initiative, aimed at transferring knowledge and technology, has empowered these artisans to actively participate in the production of cost-effective, high-quality Dino bins.
Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, clarified that the partnership includes a proactive training program, with local artisans as trainees, ensuring the sustainability of the initiative. Olatunbosun highlighted the government’s commitment to the development and well-being of the people, particularly artisans and technicians.
The testimonies from Adejuwon and other participants underscore the transformative impact of the Ekiti-Lagos partnership on individual lives, emphasizing empowerment, skill development, and the broader goal of enhancing waste management practices within the state.
