Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, declares unwavering commitment to Ekiti’s development, dismissing distractions from political maneuvering for the 2026 governorship race. The governor emphasizes divine guidance in his actions and policies, revealing plans for a 1.2km flyover to enhance Ado Ekiti’s infrastructure.
Speaking at the culmination of the 2024 Week of Prayer, organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in conjunction with the Ekiti State Government, Governor Oyebanji addresses concerns about early political activities, affirming his primary focus on leading Ekiti to prosperity.
He dismisses the emerging political discussions, stating, “For now, 2026 is the least of my worries. What I am really bothered about is leading Ekiti to prosperity, and allowing God to guide us.”
Governor Oyebanji highlights ongoing efforts, stating, “Let me tell you that work will commence in the coming weeks on the flyover we planned to construct in Ado Ekiti to ease traffic in the business district around Ejigbo.”
Reflecting on his governance, he attributes success to prayer and faith, emphasizing that God’s guidance, rather than personal brilliance, exposure, or political structures, has been the driving force behind his administration’s accomplishments.
The governor urges politicians to exhibit a sacrificial spirit, viewing leadership as a service to God and humanity. In a call for spiritual renewal, the CAN Chairman in Ekiti, Reverend Emmanuel Aribasoye, emphasizes justice and fair-play, quoting biblical passages to underscore the benefits of returning to God.
In a separate sermon, Pastor Stephen Olumuyiwa urges Governor Oyebanji to champion righteousness, honesty, integrity, unity, peace, and prosperity in 2024, asserting that there should be no tolerance for corruption and disobedience to orders in Ekiti.
