The Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Hon. Oluwafemi Abimbola Awe, intensifies the assessment tour of self-help projects following earnest requests from communities, appealing for government intervention to ensure the completion of their initiatives.
The exercise, initially covering two local government areas on Thursday, expanded with two additional visits on Friday, totaling four local governments assessed.
On Friday, the commissioner and his team conducted thorough tours of Palaces in Ise and Emure Ekiti local government areas, conducting on-the-spot assessments of pressing needs, including linking roofs, piping challenges, and ongoing roofing projects.
Expressing gratitude, community chiefs acknowledged Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s noble revisit to the self-help projects, praising his dedication to consolidating the initiative and lauding him as a true grassroots governor.
The chiefs, acting as tour guides, appealed for swift government intervention and offered prayers for Governor Oyebanji’s continued empowerment to fulfill community needs.
In response, Hon. Awe emphasized the importance of a maintenance culture and urged communities to ensure the qualification of local contractors, fostering proper monitoring teams within the community.
He highlighted the significance of adhering to project specifications to avoid unnecessary expenditures, emphasizing the potential diversion of funds to more pressing needs.
Assuring the communities that their requests would be addressed, the commissioner maintained that Governor Biodun Oyebanji remains unequivocally committed to their welfare. He urged them to maintain faith in the governor’s dedication to community development.
