EKITI L-PRES TARGETS LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION TO CREATE WEALTH, EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 

The State Project Implementation Unit of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project has presented 2024 Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWP&B) to the State Steering Committee (L-PRES) in Ado Ekiti. The Work Plan is aimed at improving Livestock Production, create wealth for Women and provide job opportunities for teeming youths in the State.

The Chairman, State Steering Committee,Hon. Ebenezer Boluwade assured the implementation of 2024 Annual Workplan and Budget of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L- PRES) would focus on value chains of products that would bring output of production to improve the Gross Domestic product (GDP) for development of the State economy.

EKITI STATE COMMISSIONER FOR AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY MR EBENEZER BOLUWADE.

He said government would maximize the production of Livestocks and stressed that the project would boost the internally generated revenue of the state by strengthening the resilience of the key

players in poultry production, Sheep, and goat, Abattoir operations,Cattle Market and development in the State.

 

In his welcome address, State Project Coordinator,Mr. Olayinka Adedipe

said the project would improve the Cattle Market and Abattoir along Iworoko Road,Ado Ekiti.

 

The SPC said that the project is aimed at improving the Veterinary clinic with State of the earth equipments in Ado Ekiti and its environs to cater for Livestock rearing and services in the center. He explained the five components of the project, which among many other things, Commercialization and value chains development of a business activities in the production and processing of all the targeted livestock products.

Adedipe said to forestall crisis between Farmers -Herders, security would be put in place and operational tools would be provided, to manage crisis and redress mechanism

EKITI STATE COMMISSIONER FOR FINANCE MR AKINTUNDE OYEBODE

In his response, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akintunde Oyebode

stressed that the project would need to capture aggressive Poultry

Management Systems and value chain and development in Commercialisation of Livestock and other pasture production to boost internally generated revenue for the State.

EKITI STATE COMMISSIONER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND PUBLIC UTILITIES PROF BOLAJI ALUKO

In his remarks, Commissioner for Public Utilities and infrastructure, Prof. Bolaji Aluko advised the implementation Unit to focus on achievable and important projects in the estimated Budget, so that

the project would accomplish and benefit the State.

EKITI- STATE COMMISSIONER FOR INVESTMENT ,TRADE AND INDUSTRY MRS. OMOTAYO ADEOLA 

In her Opinion, Commissioner for Investment,Trade and Industry, Hon.

Omotayo Adeola said the project should capture Public and Private

enterprises to improve the State economy. She said Livestock Business Owners in the State should operate in hygienic environment to ensure food safety and value for money.

EKITI STATE COMMISSIONER FOR WOMEN AFFAIRS MRS. PEJU BABAFEMI

In her goodwill Messages, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. ‘Peju Babafemi said awareness and mobilization campaigns are needed to bring Women in Agriculture (WIA) through Livestock Production systems for sustainable livelihoods for Ekiti people.

 

In his contribution, Special Adviser on Security to the Governor, Gen.

Ebenezer Ogundana (Rtd) said security of lives and properties would be achieved by providing necessary tools in agricultural hub in line with the 6 pillars of BAO administration. He advocated for inclusiveness of the host communities in the implementation of the L-PRES project.
