Brigadier General Ibukun Olu Adewa (Retired), the State Commandant of Ekiti State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has urged residents to prioritize security in the upcoming year, 2024. General Adewa conveyed this message in a press release he personally signed in Ado Ekiti, emphasizing the importance of community support for the Security Outfit.
In his statement, General Adewa commended the dedication of Amotekun officers in 2023 and urged continued cooperation in the new year to effectively address security challenges in the state. He expressed gratitude to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his unwavering support, particularly in boosting the morale of officers and addressing criminal activities.
General Adewa highlighted significant achievements during his tenure, including a comprehensive tour of all 16 local government areas shortly after assuming office in August 2023. He emphasized successful crackdowns on criminal elements in various areas, showcasing Amotekun’s proactive stance against insecurity.
The State Commandant also called for enhanced welfare for Amotekun officers, urging Governor Oyebanji to prioritize their well-being in 2024. He acknowledged the Governor’s positive step in increasing salaries from N20,000 to N30,000 since July 2023, demonstrating a commitment to recognizing and rewarding the officers’ efforts.
Expressing condolences for officers lost during a recent robbery incident in Ikere Ekiti, General Adewa appealed for urgent support for the affected families. He prayed for God’s continuous protection and wisdom for Governor Oyebanji and his administration in running the affairs of the state.
