Ekiti State Government, in collaboration with the State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (EKICCIMA), is gearing up to host a summit focused on economic development and wealth creation, aimed at attracting investors and boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Otunba Kayode Fasae, announced this initiative during a visit by EKICCIMA officials, led by its President, Dr. Olufemi Ogunmola, to his office in Ado Ekiti.
Fasae reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration to partner with individuals and corporate organizations to expedite the state’s development. He emphasized that no effort would be spared in improving the general well-being of Ekiti State’s residents.
The economic summit is envisioned to foster the growth of Small and Medium Scale (SME) businesses for both individuals and corporate organizations. It is anticipated to have a substantial impact on the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Dr. Olufemi Ogunmola, President of EKICCIMA, disclosed that the summit, scheduled for January 2024, will engage the entire Organized Private Sector (OPS) in the state. The event will feature the launch of Cooperative and Trade exhibitions, as well as key lectures and plenary sessions addressing various relevant topics related to the state’s micro-economic transformation. These sessions will be conducted by accomplished academicians, financiers, development partners, business magnates, and prominent industrial figures.
Ogunmola called for the support of all stakeholders to ensure the summit’s success, emphasizing its alignment with the policies of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration, as outlined in its six pillars. Additionally, the Commissioner stated that his ministry would soon commence the collection of data on employed youths, artisans, market women, and individuals with disabilities. This data will aid in effective planning, facilitating wealth creation and employment opportunities within the state.
