As part of the celebration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s one year in office, the Friends’ of BAO Volunteer Group has embarked on a heartwarming mission to spread love and support to students in the three government special schools in the state.
In a reflection of unity and alignment with the governor’s call for individuals and groups to rally around government initiatives, the BAO Volunteer Group is proving that collective efforts are pivotal in ensuring the success of such endeavors.
The team made their first stop at the School for the Blind, Ikere Ekiti. On this visit, they generously donated food items and 150 bedsheets. This noble gesture is in commemoration of Ekiti State Governor’s one year in office, reflecting the group’s dedication to the state’s development.
Speaking at Ikere Ekiti, the commissioner for Special Duties Hon. Dolamu Adeniyi emphasized that this initiative is not a one-time event but rather an ongoing commitment. He pledged that the BAO Anchor Organization will remain closely engaged with these schools, reinforcing their dedication to the cause.
Continuing their journey of compassion, the team visited the School for the Deaf in Ikoro Ekiti, where they were warmly received by both students and teachers. Here, they made a second set of donations which include food items and 150 bedsheets.
Hon. Adetoun Agboola, the Special Adviser for Special Education and Social Inclusion in the state, expressed her deep appreciation for the group’s proactive and compassionate actions. She commended their efforts in showing love and support to children with special abilities and took the opportunity to encourage other individuals, groups, organizations, and government bodies to support Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration.
With pride, she underscored the Governor’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of these special children. She pointed out that the day’s event coincided with the completion of newly constructed hostels for the students, complete with iron bed bunks, marking an end to the era when students had to sleep on the floor.
Hon. Agboola emphasized that these milestones are part of the Governor’s continuous efforts to fulfill his campaign promise of an all-inclusive government, ensuring that no one is left behind, especially individuals with disabilities. She highlighted the presentation of four refurbished buses to schools, addressing mobility challenges, as a testament to the Governor’s genuine care for these children.
As she praised the BAO Anchor Group for their benevolence, she urged others to join in supporting the initiative, using their resources and influence to make a positive impact. She also called upon parents to reciprocate the government’s efforts by showing love to their children and not leaving them abandoned in schools.
The team rounded up their visit at the Government Special School for the Physically and Mentally challenged, Ido Ekiti where they also donated food items and 150 bedsheets.
