Ekiti State’s Commissioner for Environment, Chief (Mrs.) Tosin Aluko Ajisafe, took decisive action by ordering the immediate closure of Belloni’s eatery situated on the bustling NTA road in Ado Ekiti. The eatery, a quick-service restaurant, had been operating in unsanitary conditions.
Addressing the media regarding the closure on Monday, the commissioner disclosed that her department had issued a warning letter to the eatery’s management two weeks earlier, drawing attention to the deplorable state of the establishment.
She emphasized, “Today’s visit is a follow-up to a letter sent by the Ministry of Environment two weeks ago, addressing the shabby environment in which the restaurant was operating. To my surprise, no improvements were made, which led us to take this decisive action.”
During the inspection, the Honourable Commissioner observed significant issues in the eatery’s kitchen, which emanated unpleasant odors.
Additionally, waste had not been properly disposed of for a minimum of three weeks, leading to a highly unhygienic environment for food preparation, service, and consumption.
