A recent assessment of Nigerian states based on the Transparency and Integrity Index (TII) reveals Ekiti State as the leader of the pack, securing the top rank with a remarkable score of 61.32%.
This accomplishment underscores Ekiti’s unwavering commitment to transparency and integrity.

Following closely are Kaduna and Ondo States, which have earned the second and third positions with scores of 59.76% and 53.75%, respectively.

This achievement coincides with Governor Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s first anniversary in office. Under his leadership, Ekiti State has witnessed a series of transformative strides. The Governor’s commitment to good governance, ethical conduct, and public accountability has propelled Ekiti to the forefront of the TII rankings.

Governor Oyebanji’s one-year milestones include substantial improvements in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Noteworthy is the timely, transparent and non biased distribution of the federal government pallatives to the state to cushion the effort of the subsidy removal .
Governor Oyebanji and his team made sure the distribution was free and fair irrespective of political, ethnic or religious bias this include the launch of free bus services for students and civil servants, with vulnerable groups already benefiting from a monthly allowance of 5,000 Naira, lasting for three months.
Furthermore, Governor Oyebanji’s administration has combined palliatives from the federal government with state-acquired supplies to ensure that the vulnerable segments of society receive the essential support they need.

This proactive approach demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its citizens.

Conversely, not all states have fared equally well in the TII rankings. Ogun State, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom find themselves at the lower end of the compliance spectrum, signaling room for improvement in adherence to the TII variables. This comprehensive ranking highlights the varying degrees of compliance and demonstrates the need for a more transparent and accountable government across the nation.

The TII score for 2023 has shown significant improvement, surging from 58.74% to the current leading score of 61.32%. This shift underlines the collective efforts of various states to enhance transparency and integrity, setting a positive trajectory for the nation’s governance standards. Governor Oyebanji’s leadership in Ekiti State exemplifies this dedication to achieving greater accountability and transparency.
