Ekiti Governor Oyebanji urge stakeholders to support special schools, in state address

In a solemn State of the State address delivered at the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji reaffirmed his call to stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of children attending the three government special schools. The Governor emphasized that this support is a crucial means of bolstering government initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of these children.

Governor Oyebanji’s administration, from its inception, has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the welfare of these children as a testament to his passion for their wellbeing.

Several notable initiatives have been put in place to uplift the special schools, including the appointment of a dedicated Special Adviser for Special Education and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Adetoun Agboola.

Renovation of school structures, procurement of specialized teaching aids, and the presentation of four refurbished buses to address transportation challenges faced by both teachers and students have been key highlights of the administration’s efforts.

Furthermore, the Governor has organized capacity training workshops for teachers, instructors, andw caregivers, equipping them with the necessary skills to educate and nurture the students as schools resume.

Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji urged stakeholders, both within and outside the state, to appreciate the government’s initiatives by visiting the three special schools and contributing to their betterment. He stressed the importance of collective effort, acknowledging that government alone cannot achieve all the necessary progress.

In his address, the Governor also called upon members of the State House of Assembly to visit the special schools for an on-site assessment and explore opportunities to impact the lives of the students, thereby improving the sector.

 

He emphasized that the office of the Special Adviser for Special Education and Social Inclusion, led by Mrs. Adetoun Agboola, is open for consultation to facilitate assistance and collaboration.

Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji proudly announced that government initiatives in the special education sector are already yielding results. He highlighted the remarkable performance of students from the School for the Deaf in Ikoro Ekiti, who achieved top honors in the last National Examination Council (NECO) examination.
