Special School for Deaf, Ikoro Ekiti, Celebrates A1 Results in Valedictory Ceremony

In a celebration of outstanding academic accomplishments, the Special School for the Deaf in Ikoro Ekiti marked its valedictory ceremony on Thursday. The event gathered prominent government officials, dignified guests, and proud family members who had come to applaud the remarkable achievements of the school’s students.

The spotlight of the ceremony shone brightly on the extraordinary academic achievements of the outgoing students. Particularly noteworthy was their outstanding performance in the recently released National Examination Council (NECO) results. These results were replete with A1 grades, a testament to the remarkable potential and success of students with special needs.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Hon. Adetoun Agboola, shared her heartfelt congratulations with the students, celebrating their brilliant performance in the NECO examinations. She emphasized the significance of their achievement and what it represents for students with disabilities. The students’ academic success served as a shining example, reaffirming that, regardless of their disabilities, they could make a remarkable difference.

DISPLAY OF CERTIFICATES

To further motivate and reward their exceptional efforts, Hon. Adetoun pledged financial incentives. She declared, “For every A1 grade, a student will receive five thousand naira. Thus, a student with two A1 grades will be rewarded with ten thousand naira.” This gesture aims to inspire the students to continue their academic excellence.

Reaffirming the commitment of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration to the inclusion and empowerment of individuals with disabilities, Hon. Adetoun encouraged parents to remain steadfast in nurturing their children and actively supporting their growth and well-being.

A bright spot of the ceremony featured the presentation of a cash prize to Abiodun ‘Dupe, one of the students who claimed the first position in a dance competition at the 2023 Kidscon event held on Saturday, the 7th of October, 2023.

The valedictory ceremony was also enriched with engaging choreography, a captivating playlet, and a stunning cultural dance performance, adding to the celebration of the students’ exceptional accomplishments.
