Former SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate and Prominent Members Defect to APC in Ekiti

In a significant political development in Ekiti State, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last gubernatorial election, Otunba Ladi Owolabi, and other prominent members of the SDP, have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to his followers at a gathering held at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, Otunba Owolabi cited Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s numerous achievements and dedication to the state’s development as key factors influencing his decision to join the APC. He expressed his commitment to contributing to the party’s growth and sustainability.

In a warm welcome extended to Otunba Ladi Owolabi and the other SDP members by the Chairman of the APC in Ekiti State, Mr. Paul Omotosho, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Party Relations and Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe, the move was hailed as a significant victory for the APC.

The party leaders emphasized that the new members should consider themselves integral to the APC and highlighted the potential impact of this development on the upcoming Local Government Election in December and future elections in the state.

Chairman of the Ado Central Local Council Development Area, Engineer Toyin Ọjọ́, lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s remarkable achievements as a driving force behind the growing support for the APC. He expressed optimism that the defection of the former SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate and other prominent members would strengthen the party and enhance its prospects in upcoming elections.

Among the notable individuals who joined the APC alongside Otunba Ladi Owolabi are Former Chairman in Ado Local Government, Femi Bamisile, Akin Osadeyi, Prince Femi Adebolu, Akawa Zaccheus, and Mr. Adekunle Akunle. Hon. Tade Aluko, the Chairman of the planning committee, welcomed the new members and urged them to actively participate as party members without delay.
