Ekiti State Police Crack Down on Cultists, Arresting Multiple Suspects.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police Mr Dare Ogundare has announced the successful crackdown on criminal gangs affiliated with cults in the region.
He commended the Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on the various efforts put in place to check crime in the state with the recent donation of security equipment like armored trucks,vans,battons and helmets .
The Commissioner explained that upon acting on a tip-off, the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended individuals associated with the Eiye confraternity in a hideout where they were engaging in illicit activities.
The Commissioner of police made the revelelation during a parade at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Two suspects, PELUMI OBAYEMI and OLANIPEKUN EMMANUEL, were arrested, while others fled the scene. Items including a battle axe, criminal charms, and suspected Indian hemp were found in their possession.
Additionally, ten members of the “Buccaneer Confraternity” were arrested near Prosperous Hotel in Ado-Ekiti. They were found in possession of various items associated with their secret cult, including berets, caps, shirts, and symbols. Weapons, a suspected charm, and cowries were also seized.
Further arrests were made in Emure-Ekiti, where suspects were caught chanting secret cult slogans and smoking suspected Indian hemp. Investigation revealed their involvement in an assault on a victim who was stabbed on the forehead.
On a different occasion, two individuals were arrested along Ilawe Road, Ado Ekiti, in possession of a significant quantity of suspected Indian hemp and a white substance believed to be cocaine. They confessed to being drug dealers.
One Ajayi Opeyemi a serial bugler was arrested for the case of conspiracy, burglary and stealing. He was arrested by the command operatives in his hideout in Aramoko Ekiti, he had burgled more than five different houses and shops belonging to different owners at Aramoko Ekiti.
The Commissioner of Police expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and provision of timely information that led to these successful operations. All arrested suspects will face appropriate legal action.
