As the academic year begins this September, Greensprings School Lagos has introduced its dynamic theme for the upcoming school year: “IGNITE #DeeperHolisticLearning.” The theme was unveiled by Executive Director, Mrs. Lai Koiki, during the school’s annual in-service training (INSET) at the Lekki campus.

GREENSPRINGS DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION, MRS. FEYISARA OJUGO

Deputy Director of Education, Mrs. Feyisara Ojugo, provided insights into the school’s focus for the 2023/2024 session, which aims to build upon the successful initiatives introduced in the previous academic year. The new theme is designed to consolidate the progress made last year.

Mrs. Ojugo explained, “The theme was inspired by our achievements with the ‘Future Ready #DrivenByValue’ theme of the previous school year. We introduced several initiatives, including coding across all class categories, Value-Based Education (VbE), the inclusion of Nigerian Languages in Preschool, the establishment of Centers of Excellence on various campuses, and more. As we delved deeper into each aspect, it became evident that there was still more depth to explore, particularly in creating tangible evidence of our students’ learning. This inspired our new theme for the upcoming school year, aiming to deepen our holistic educational approach.”

The school plans to enhance learning in various ways, including extending coding classes to include the creation of robots and tangible projects through a partnership with Coderina.org. They will also host a “STEAM Week,” where students will exhibit their talents and works in science, technology, coding, art, and mathematics. Additionally, they will expand Value-Based Education through a Service Learning initiative, enabling students to build portfolios and receive recognition for their contributions to their communities.

Mrs. Ojugo emphasized that not only students but also the school’s staff will be actively engaged in deepening their learning. Greensprings School is committed to the personal and professional development of its staff, organizing the annual INSET to provide educational workshops and opportunities for growth. The school will continue to enhance the capacity of its staff through relevant training and the provision of necessary resources to support their professional development.

Established in 1985, Greensprings School operates campuses in Anthony, Ikoyi, and Lekki, Lagos, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovative education.
