In a pressing plea, residents of Itapaji, Ekiti, have implored the state government to step in and address the persistent threat posed by kidnappers, who have cast a shadow of fear over their community.
Chief Kazeem Aliyu, the Obadofin of Itapaji, conveyed the town’s urgent concerns in an interview voicing the dire situation faced by the community. He revealed that recent attacks by suspected kidnappers have not only put lives at risk but also jeopardized the safety of properties.
During one of these attacks, a pastor from the community was abducted, and tragically, a six-year-old boy lost his life. Chief Aliyu emphasized that the absence of adequate security measures in the community has left them vulnerable and defenseless. As a result, they are beseeching the government to establish a police post to reinforce the existing internal security framework.
The community leader also disclosed that they have alerted the state’s Commissioner of Police, Dare Ogundare, about the alarming wave of kidnappings and violence that has plagued Itapaji.
Recently, armed assailants targeted the community, claiming the life of one person and abducting two others who were returning from their farms, holding them hostage.
The residents of Itapaji are now looking to their government for assistance and intervention in the face of these escalating security concerns that are causing anguish and fear in their daily lives.
