Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a safer and economically vibrant Ekiti. Emphasizing the importance of residents’ safety and an efficient transport sector, Governor Oyebanji’s message was delivered by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Kehinde Ajobiewe, during the 2023 Sectorial Workshop for Special Marshals, themed “Volunteerism in Road Safety Management: Limits and Possibilities.”
Governor Oyebanji applauded the Special Marshals and the Federal Road Safety Corp(FRSC) for their selfless efforts in safeguarding Ekiti’s roads. He underlined the proactive and caring nature of his administration, which prioritizes a well-maintained road network to drive economic growth and ensure the safety of residents. Upon assuming office, the governor initiated comprehensive road repairs, tackled potholes, and initiated extensive road reconstructions and constructions.
The recent inauguration of the Ekiti State Bus Terminal exemplified the administration’s commitment to residents’ safety and efficient transportation. This move aimed to alleviate traffic congestion and prevent potential accidents that could endanger lives while residents navigate through markets.
Governor Oyebanji stressed that beyond preventing road accidents, his administration places a premium on overall safety. They have demonstrated this by strengthening security measures, including the donation of 10 security Hilux vans, 2 Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), batons, and helmets to the state police headquarters, among other initiatives.

While urging residents to abide by traffic laws and signals, the governor assured them that his government would persist in implementing policies and initiatives to safeguard lives and property.
Governor Oyebanji pledged continued support for the Special Marshals and encouraged them to maintain their commitment to serving humanity with professionalism while shunning vices.
Dr. Adedayo Olumuyiwa, the State Coordinator of Special Marshals,had earlier welcomed guests to the event and called on all stakeholders to collaborate in achieving safer highways.
Highlight of the event was when the governor was decorated as patron of the state’s special marshal.
