In a stirring tribute, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering dedication to nurturing leaders not only from Ekiti but across the nation.

The Governor’s remarks were delivered at the lecture and Book Presentation, commemorating the 60th birthday of the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, held at the prestigious Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Tuesday.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized President Tinubu’s remarkable investment in human capital development over the years, which has resulted in the rise of numerous political and economic leaders in Nigeria. He hailed Senator Bamidele as an outstanding example of the President’s foresight in mentoring exceptional talents.

Senator Bamidele’s exceptional performance in all public offices he has held, Governor Oyebanji asserted, remains a source of pride not only for his resteemed mentor, President Tinubu but also for the people of Ekiti State.

In reminiscing an impactful moment during the general elections campaign, Governor Oyebanji recalled President Tinubu’s visit to the Palace of the Ewi Of Ado-Ekiti. At the time, a native of Ado-Ekiti was vying for a Senate seat under the PDP, leading to divided loyalties among the people. However, President Tinubu’s heartfelt endorsement of Senator Bamidele altered the political narrative and earned him the trust and support of the Ekiti people.

Governor Oyebanji praised Senator Bamidele’s humility and leadership style, which epitomizes selflessness, dignity, and integrity. He commended the Senate Leader for his invaluable contributions to Ekiti State’s political and economic growth, bringing his wealth of political experience from Lagos to positively impact his home state.

Addressing the gathering, Keynote Speaker, former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), extolled Senator Bamidele’s embodiment of the cherished Omoluabi virtues of Ekiti State. He urged political players to emulate the noble character displayed by the Senate Majority Leader.

Speaking on “Leader Challenges in Modern Society,” former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Toyin Ogundipe, emphasized the need for contemporary leaders to display dynamism while addressing issues in today’s rapidly changing environment. He underscored the importance of inspiring others and guiding them towards achieving their aspirations.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including members of the National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Governors Niyi Adebayo and Nyesom Wike, as well as distinguished traditional rulers like the Ewi Of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, and the Oluyin Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye, among others.

The occasion celebrated Senator Bamidele’s milestone birthday while paying tribute to the enduring legacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in shaping leaders and fostering human capital development across Nigeria.
