Ekiti State Gov’t Stresses Collective Security Responsibility and Calls for Police College Establishment.

In an unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of residents and their properties, the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in Ekiti State deems security as a collective responsibility. This sentiment was emphasized by Hon. Olufemi Aduloju, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on special duties, during a courtesy visit to the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Dare Ogundare, at the Police Headquarters in Ado Ekiti.

Hon. Aduloju lauded the gallant and professional work displayed by the police force, resulting in the successful release of the kidnapped All Progressives Congress (APC) party chairman, Barr. Paul Omotosho, and three other victims in recent times. He also commended the Commissioner for the significant reduction in crime since his appointment in late March this year, urging him and his officers to sustain the positive momentum.

 

Addressing the issue of security, Aduloju stressed thate safeguarding lives thrives when all stakeholders diligently fulfill their roles without prejudice. He reaffirmed that Governor Oyebanji’s administration remains staunchly committed to the protection of all residents, irrespective of their religion, ethnicity, status, or political affiliation, as long as they reside in the state.

Assuring Commissioner Ogundare of the administration’s continuous support towards the welfare of police officers, Hon. Aduloju made a humble request for the facilitation of a police college in Ekiti State. The establishment of such a college, he asserted, would undoubtedly enhance the state’s security architecture and bring it on par with other states in the South-West that boast such institutions.

 

Aduloju also urged the Commissioner to intensify patrols in some notorious spots within the state to further strengthen security measures.

Responding to the visit, CP Dare Ogundare appreciated the gesture and assured Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of the police force’s unwavering commitment tor implementing the administration’s mantra on safeguarding lives and properties of residents.

 

He revealed that, since assuming office, he had conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the state, leading to the strategic deployment of security personnel to trouble-prone areas, effectively preempting potential outbreaks.

 

CP Ogundare emphasized the importance of timely information from residents, as it plays a critical role in proactively addressing security challenges. He also called upon the Governor to provide support in terms of logistics and welfare, stating that improved resources would lead to more efficient operations, aligning with thet Governor’s vision of prosperity for all.

 

Regarding the request for a police college, CP Ogundare explained that before such an institution can be established, the government must provide suitable infrastructure. Once the necessary structures are in place, a site inspection would be conducted, paving the way for further steps towards the realization of a police training school in the state.

 

With a collective sense of responsibility and determination, the Ekiti State government and the police force aim to foster a secure and thriving environment for all its residents.
