BUDGET REVIEW: ADEBAYO CHARGES ACCOUNTING OFFICERS ON VALUE ADDITION .

.....As Ministry begins Pre-Treasury Board Meeting.

The Special Adviser to Ekiti State Governor on Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr. Niyi Adebayo has charged the leadership of the Civil Service to ensure Ekiti people derive value from the proposed supplementary budget which is a fallout of the review of the 2023 budget.r

The Special Adviser gave this charge at the pre-treasury board meeting held on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti.

Adebayo said Ekiti people can only get value from the budget when their interest is prioritised since the government is out to serve Ekiti people.

He charged heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to use the instrumentation of budget to enable the Biodun Oyebanji-led administration achieve its agenda of shared prosperity in the State.

The Adviser asserted that the main focus of the Oyebanji led-administration is to improve the wellbeing of the people.

While urging them to be more responsible in making propositions and even as they implement the budget, Adebayo urged the senior civil servants to discharge their duties in good faith and with high level of professionalism.

“Indeed why we are here is to see how we can use the instrumentality of budget to enable the Governor achieve his programme and I will like to let you know that today’s review we will always have at the back of our minds the six pillar of this administration”.

“Most importantly it is also good for us to know that as we runs through the numbers and try to justify whaterver we are including or excluding, proximity and of course value for Ekiti people will be at the heart of what we are doing because we are here to serve Ekiti make sure that during the course of this administration, will improve the wellbeing of the people,” he said.

 

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr. Olusesan Alabi said the purpose of the meeting was to review the budget implementation in the first five months of the year and to ensure that the state is on the track.

 

Mr Alabi further explained that the revised and supplementary budget would help to accommodate the critical projects embarked upon by the State government.
