Regent of Ayeka, Princess Oluyemi Bajowa , seven others bag Ondo role model awards

Hero Magazine International has once again celebrated excellence in a grand leadership award ceremony held in Akure, the Ondo State capital. The event took place on Sunday, 14th November, at The Dome International Event Centre.

The award, organised under the editorial leadership of Dr. Akinbiola, a prominent publisher from Irele, Ondo South, has consistently honoured individuals of substance across public and private sectors for over ten years. This annual event recognises professionals who have distinguished themselves in their fields through dedication, innovation, and societal contributions.

By 4 PM, the venue was already filled with notable Ondo State dignitaries and stakeholders from various sectors.

This year, eight exceptional individuals from across the South-West region were honoured as Ondo State Role Model Awardees. The recipients included:

Dr. Akinbiola, the event convener and publisher of Hero Magazine, stated that the selection process was rigorous and based on critical assessments to ensure only the most deserving individuals were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the state’s development.

In his remarks, Dr. Akinbiola congratulated the honourees, encouraging them to continue being positive influences in their communities, especially to inspire the younger generation to pursue excellence and integrity.

Representing the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, was the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Barr. Oladunni Catherine Odu. She praised the initiative and emphasised the government’s commitment to inclusive development and human capital advancement. She highlighted existing state programmes aimed at empowerment and social growth, which have seen impactful results.

Dr. Tunji Abayomi, the human rights activist and chairman of the occasion, described the awardees as trailblazers who have consistently demonstrated excellence. He commended Hero Magazine for spotlighting those who have contributed meaningfully to the Ondo State legacy and inspired future leaders.

The event featured a cultural dance performance, the unveiling of the 10th Anniversary edition of Hero Magazine, the launch of the commemorative issue by the awardees and their well-wishers, cutting of the awards cake, and formal presentation of plaques to the honourees.

Princess Barr. Oluyemi Bajowa received the “Role Model of the Year” and “Public Sector Achiever of the Year 2021” awards. In her acceptance speech, made available to thepolity.net, she expressed deep appreciation:

> “It is with the greatest honour, privilege, and humility that I accept this excellent award as Role Model of the Year and Public Sector Achiever 2021.

I bring love, light, and greetings from my husband, Prince Dr. (Gen.) Joseph Oluyemi Bajowa, OFR — my rock, my pillar, my inspiration, my teacher, and my guiding light.

I dedicate this award to him, for giving me the platform to soar and contribute meaningfully to society.”

Gen. Olu Bajowa (Rtd.), speaking with thepolity.net on the sidelines, noted the importance of support systems in fostering professional excellence and applauded Hero Magazine for recognising individuals who continue to drive positive change through their talents and service.

He made a generous donation of ₦500,000 during the magazine launch.
