EKITI STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITS TO PROMOTING CULTURAL VALUES

The Ekiti State Government has announced its determination to enhance and promote the values that define the State, including respect for elders, and good work ethics.

The Director-General, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC) in Ekiti State, Hon. Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa made this known in a recent appearance on Ekiti State Television program “Day Break Nigeria” in Ado Ekiti.

Mrs. Famuyiwa emphasized the importance of core values and the Ekiti Omoluabi ethos. Her discussion focused on the need for integrity, hard work, and the dignity of labour,decency,discipline,uncompromising stance on mores and ethical fidelity.

During the program,Mrs Olawumi expressed gratitude to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his exemplary leadership. She commended him for embodying the principles of Omoluabi, which emphasize integrity and responsibility, and for fulfilling his promises to the people of Ekiti.

The Director-General highlighted her team’s recent efforts to engage with students across all public secondary schools in Ado Ekiti through a sensitization program. This initiative aims to instill the core values of the Omoluabi ethos, which symbolizes Honesty,Hardwork, respect, and responsibility within the community.

The Director-General underscored the significance of hard work in her remarks, citing the popular adage “Ise loogun Ise,” which translates to “Work is the remedy for poverty.” She urged the youth to embrace diligence and perseverance, asserting that these qualities are essential for personal and communal success.

The Bureau Chief also addressed the alarming trend of youth seeking a quick financial gains through dishonest means. She strongly advised against the “quick money-making syndrome,” encouraging young people to prioritize integrity and honesty in their pursuits.
