
The Relief and Rehabilitation Centre in Okesa, Ado-Ekiti, came alive on Tuesday with vibrant celebrations as the occupants of the centre marked the Yuletide season.

The event, organized by the Office of Disability Affairs in collaboration with the Office of Special Education and Social Inclusion, was a joyous gathering aimed at spreading festive cheer and fostering inclusion.
In her welcome address, the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola, represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Rehabilitation and Mental Health, Mrs. Funmilayo Fatoba, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his steadfast commitment to the welfare of People with Disabilities (PWDs) in Ekiti State.
She assured the occupants that the government would continue to prioritize the well-being of PWDs, reaffirming its dedication to creating a more inclusive and supportive society. She further noted that the current administration has set an unprecedented standard by actively working to improve the quality of life for all Ekiti people, regardless of their circumstances.
The Director of Disability Affairs, Mr. Toye Ojo, in his opening remarks, described the occupants of the centre as beacons of courage, perseverance and hope. He emphasized that the event was not only a celebration of the festive season but also a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the occupants.
Mr. Ojo commended Governor Oyebanji for creating an enabling environment where individuals with disabilities can thrive. He highlighted several interventions by the Governor at the centre, including the prompt payment of subventions for its maintenance, the annual celebration of the Governor’s birthday with the occupants, and the directive for his friends and close associates to donate intended birthday gifts to the centre. According to Mr. Ojo, these acts of kindness underscore the Governor’s unwavering dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
The event featured several highlights, including health talks, special prayers led by Pastor Stephen Abimbola (SSA, Governor’s Office) for Governor Oyebanji and the centre’s occupants, and a lively dancing session.
Also in attendance were Alhaji Suleiman Fattah, SSA on Social Inclusion, principals of special schools, and directors from the Office of Disability Affairs.
The celebration underscores the Ekiti State Government’s commitment to fostering inclusion and ensuring that every citizen, regardless of their abilities, enjoys the warmth and joy of the Yuletide season.
