Miss Oluwakemi Florence Dada of Ekiti State has completed a remarkable 240-hour marathon reading aloud challenge, positioning herself for a potential Guinness World Record.
The Read-a-thon, held from December 17 to December 29, 2024, at the Light City Modern Library in Ido-Ekiti, showcased her dedication to education and the state’s reputation as a fountain of knowledge.
During a courtesy visit from the office of the senior special Assistant to the governor on special duties , Hon. Oluwafemi Aduloju Oja I,praised Miss Dada’s achievement.He emphasized Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to youth development and education. While expressing regret over limited publicity for the event, he reaffirmed the government’s dedication to celebrating and supporting such feats.
Miss Dada’s reading marathon included over 100 books, such as “Never an Afterthought” by Afolabi Sokpehi Imoukhuede, ” History for Senior Secondary Students” and “A Short History of Europe: From Pericles to Putin” by Simon Jenkins.
Reflecting on her motivation, she attributed her success to her Ekiti roots and the state’s emphasis on academic excellence.
The Ekiti-born record hopeful has inspired admiration across the state, with her accomplishment drawing attention to the value of education and resilience. If officially confirmed, her feat will surpass previous records, including those set by contenders from Osun State and India.
With the recent move Miss Oluwakemi Florence Dada has placed herself as a role model for young Nigerians, promising to further investment in education to inspire future achievements.
