Ikosi Isheri Political Turmoil: Call for Intervention Amidst Bada’s Dominance

... As Martins Urges Party Leaders to Ensure Fair Play

In the lead-up to the 2025 Local Government Chairmanship elections in Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), political tensions are mounting as incumbent Chairman Princess Samiat Bada intensifies her campaign for re-election. Leveraging her influence and strategic maneuvers within the party, Bada’s actions have sparked concern among party members and observers.

INCUMBENT CHAIRMAN IKOSI-ISHERI LCDA PRINCESS SAMIAT BADA.                                            Bada, who transitioned from Vice Chairman to Executive Chairman from 2019 to 2025, has relocated the party structure to the Council Headquarters, creating an atmosphere perceived as skewed in her favor. This relocation follows the eviction of the party Secretariat on Ekiti Street in 2023 due to unpaid rent, further complicating the landscape for other aspirants.

Amidst these developments, Hon. Mrs. Martins has publicly called for intervention from local and state party leadership to address the imposition and disruptive tactics attributed to Bada.

In a recent party meeting, Martins was allegedly obstructed and her speech disrupted by Bada’s followers, an incident she recounted on the party’s online platform.

“Good evening respectable leaders. I was surprised that Ikosi Isheri LCDA APC meeting has turned into a PSB campaign rally. After Bola Bada’s speech, my turn to speak was disrupted by her followers, who refused to be called to order. This environment is not conducive for other aspirants, and the newly constructed LGA by the market, claimed by Bada’s NGO, makes it unsafe for non-PSB members to meet,” Martins stated, highlighting the urgent need for party intervention.

Political watchers have also stressed the importance of a fair playing field, suggesting the relocation of the party Secretariat outside Ikosi Isheri LCDA to ensure unbiased participation.

As the 2025 elections approach, the direction taken by APC kingmakers will be crucial in shaping the political landscape, balancing individual ambitions with the collective need for democratic integrity.

Oloye Salami Oluwaseun, a concerned party member, echoed these sentiments: “The report from yesterday’s meeting is disturbing. Democracy must thrive in our local council. The chairperson must allow other members to exercise their rights without intimidation.”

As aspirants gear up for declarations, the call for equitable treatment and the end of nefarious political tactics intensifies, with the future of Ikosi Isheri LCDA hanging in the balance.
