Ekiti Forges Alliance with LASEMA to Strengthen Disaster Management

Ekiti State Government is embarking on a strategic partnership with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to enhance security protocols and reinforce disaster preparedness strategies.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State unveiled this collaborative effort during his recent visit to the LASEMA Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Ekiti citizens,his special adviser on media Mr.Yinka Oyebode in a press release explained that Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of creating a secure and conducive environment for daily activities.

Accompanied by the State Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Akintunde Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji was warmly received by Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director-General of LASEMA, who provided insights into the agency’s operations during a comprehensive tour of its facilities.

Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu underscored the critical role played by various units within the Emergency Operation Center, emphasizing the significance of digitalization in facilitating efficient emergency response and coordination, often in collaboration with private stakeholders.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu commended Governor Oyebanji’s proactive approach, highlighting the shared commitment to safeguarding lives and properties. He pledged LASEMA’s full support in addressing security challenges and emergency situations, emphasizing the importance of information sharing and capacity building.

Furthermore, Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu outlined potential areas for improvement in Ekiti State’s emergency management framework, including fire services, environmental stewardship, rapid response initiatives, and ambulance services. He stressed the need for adequate funding and streamlined administrative processes to enhance emergency response capabilities.

Expressing his satisfaction with LASEMA’s operational strategies, Governor Oyebanji expressed his eagerness to adopt Lagos’ digitalization model to address security and emergency concerns in Ekiti State. He assured Ekiti citizens of a collaborative effort aimed at delivering optimal disaster management solutions.

“I am excited about the collaboration with LASEMA, and I assure the people of Ekiti that their safety is our top priority. We are leveraging the expertise and experience of LASEMA to enhance our emergency response capabilities,” Governor Oyebanji affirmed.
