In a pivotal move, the Online Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, has elected a new set of executives to lead the chapel over the next three years. Comrade Ayodele Abere emerged as the Chairman, with a team of dedicated individuals including Adeyemi Olajutemu as Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Adeniran as Secretary, Precious Oham as Asst. Secretary, and Adebayo Adenrele as Financial Secretary.
Commending the chapel’s commitment to accurate and timely reportage, Chairman of the Ekiti State NUJ Council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, highlighted the chapel’s significant recognition within the state. Represented by the Secretary of the Union, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, Ojomoyela issued a caution against enrolling aspiring members who do not meet the qualification criteria outlined in the Union’s constitution.
Ojomoyela urged members to fulfill their check-off dues to advance the progress of the Chapel and the state council. Chairman of the NUJ Electoral Council, Comrade Lawrence Ibitoye, urged the contestants to view their election as a call to service, emphasizing the need to reposition the chapel for competition with online media from other states. He stressed the importance of online practitioners staying informed about current events, both within and outside the state.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Ayodele Abere expressed gratitude to the NUJ leadership and chapel members for entrusting him with the responsibility. He pledged to prioritize the chapel’s interests over personal ones, assuring that the new leadership would uphold the confidence placed in them. Ex-Officio at the state council, Comrade Yaquob Popoola, urged the chapel to maintain discipline, hard work, and preserve its image.
