Ekiti First Lady’s WAOH Project Brings Joy: Surprise Visit to Aged Widow with Cash Gift, Food Items

In a heartwarming outreach, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, pleasantly surprised 90-year-old widow Madam Alake Ayodele in Otun Ekiti, Moba Local Government.

As part of her Widows and Orphans Hope (WAOH) Project, Dr. Oyebanji donated food items and a cash gift to Madam Ayodele, who couldn’t attend the WAOH unveiling due to health reasons.

Madam Ayodele, touched by the unexpected visit, expressed gratitude for the generous gift of a bag containing various food items and a financial contribution. Represented by WAOH Coordinator/Program Officer, Mrs. Oluwakemi Dairo, the First Lady reiterated that WAOH aims to provide support to widows and orphans, uplifting the vulnerable in society.

Beneficiaries of empowerment materials, including grinding machines, shared success stories of using these tools to earn a living and contribute to the local economy. Dr. Oyebanji’s visit extended beyond Madam Ayodele, as other aged widows in Otun Ekiti received unexpected cash gifts.

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to the less privileged, Dr. Oyebanji assured that subsequent phases of empowerment material distribution would reach those not covered initially. She affirmed the government’s determination to impact the lives of widows positively, rescuing them from poverty’s grip.

During the visit, the First Lady inspected the shops and homes of beneficiaries, encouraging them to adopt a maintenance culture for the provided machines. The gesture, aimed at enhancing the well-being of widows and orphans, resonates with the masses as a symbol of a people-friendly administration under Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

As the WAOH Project continues to unfold, Ekiti residents express gratitude for the compassionate efforts of the First Lady in bringing joy and support to the vulnerable members of the community.
