OAU, ILE-IFE BESTOWS PRESTIGIOUS BEST MANUSCRIPT AWARD ON DR.OLOFINBIYI’S EKSU RESEARCH TEAM

In a distinguished ceremony held during the Research Carnival Week at the Obafemi Awolowo University College of Health Sciences, a remarkable accolade was conferred upon an Ekiti State University-based research team. Over the span of five years, from 2018 to 2023, the Journal3 of Obafemi Awolowo University College of Health Sciences, Nigeria Journal of Health Sciences, selected the “Best Manuscript Award,” and the outstanding achievement was bestowed upon the EKSU research team.

DR. BABATUNDE OLOFINBIYI CONSULTANT OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, ADO EKITI.

Their article, titled *”Randomized controlled trial on early versus late feeding after Caesarean section at a teaching hospital in southwest Nigeria,”* stood out as the finest among thousands of rigorously assessed, accepted, and published original articles in the Journal. This exceptional research endeavor was led by Dr. Olofinbiyi Babatunde, a distinguished Reader in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ekiti State University College of Medicine.

The guest lecturer for the event, Prof. G.F. Erhabor, delivered an enlightening discourse on “Issues and Challenges in Medical Journalogy.” During his address, he emphasized the contemporary need to shift focus from individual authorship to promote collaborative team-based research.

Eminent figures including the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Prof. B.A.4 Kolawole, the Journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Prof. O.O. Adewole, and the entire management of OAU Ile-Ife, lauded and congratulated the EKSU research team for their distinction as the finest in the nation. They urged the team to continue raising the banner of excellence.

 

Dr. Olofinbiyi Babatunde, who led the exceptional team, expressed his profound appreciation for the unexpected yet motivating recognition as the best manuscript reviewers over the course of five years. He extended gratitude to the Journal and the University for this remarkable honor.

 

Distinguished attendees included the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Ile-Ife, the Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, deans of faculties, and revered Emeritus and retired professors of the University. Awards of Excellence were also presented to the Journal’s three founding editors; Emeritus Prof. Akinsola, Prof. Owa, and Prof. Arogundade.
