In a determined bid to maintain cleanliness in Ado metropolis and surrounding areas, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Mrs Tosin Aluko Ajisafe, undertook a thorough inspection of drains and a canal surrounding the Oja Oba/Central Mosque precinct.
Chief Aluko was visibly disheartened by the lackadaisical approach of traders in the market towards waste disposal into the drains and canal, deeming it as nothing short of barbaric. She issued a stern warning to these traders, emphasizing that anyone caught in such unsanitary practices would face sanctions.
Furthermore, the Commissioner appealed to the traders to cease their activities along the path leading to the mosque. She stressed that the government has already provided a conducive environment for traders at Awedele market and Agric Olope market.
The inspection, which Chief Aluko conducted in the company of key officials including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Babatunde Alokan, General Manager of the State Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Kayode Adumo, and General Manager of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority, Engr. Ayoola Osalusi, signifies a resolute effort to ensure the cleanliness and proper management of public spaces in the region.
