Ekiti Police Burst ₦7.92M Filling Station Fraud – Unmasking Notorious Scammers
In a groundbreaking operation, the Ekiti State Police Command has unveiled a major success in cracking down on criminal activities within the state. The most prominent breakthrough of this operation is the arrest and unmasking of a notorious gang involved in a ₦7.92 million fraud at a local filling station.
On October 10, 2023, three individuals, Olaiya Oluwaseyi, Omotosho Seun, and Ajayi Funke, were apprehended for their involvement in defrauding the owner of ANISCO FILLING STATION in Ilawe-Ekiti. What makes this case particularly astonishing is that the suspects were actually pump attendants at the station. Their actions had far-reaching consequences, leading to the loss of ₦7.92 million and severely impacting the station’s owner.
In addition to this significant achievement, the Ekiti Police showcased other recent successes. On September 23, 2023, the Command swiftly responded to a clash between rival cult groups, arresting five suspects who confessed to their involvement in Eiye Confraternity cult. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects, who belong to Aiye secret confraternity.
On September 27, 2023, a gang of armed hoodlums attacked a commercial motorcycle rider in Ijero-Ekiti. The victim was stabbed, and his ₦550,000 Bajaj motorcycle was stolen. Quick action led to the arrest of three suspects, the recovery of stolen items, and ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining culprits.
Similarly, on October 3, 2023, two suspects, Olamide Sunday and Adekunle Johnson, were arrested for attacking and robbing an individual of valuables, including phones, power banks, and cash. The suspects confessed to their involvement, leading to an ongoing search for their accomplices.
Finally, on October 9, 2023, the Ekiti Police arrested five suspects involved in a burglary in Iyin-Ekiti, recovering stolen items and iron rods worth approximately five hundred thousand naira. The suspects confessed to the crime, and authorities are actively pursuing the apprehension of the remaining individuals involved.
