In a resounding victory for the education sector in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has garnered acclaim with the recognition of the Best Teacher of 2023. His unwavering commitment to elevating the status of educators and students alike is crystal clear.

Governor Oyebanji recently welcomed Mrs. Elizabeth Adeyemi, the National Best Primary School Teacher from SUBEB Model Nursery School Omuo Ekiti, and Mrs. Funmilayo Ibitoye, the Principal of the second-best public school in Nigeria, St. Louis Grammar School Ikere Ekiti, as his esteemed guests. Their presence underscored the positive outcomes of his administration’s substantial investments in the education sector.

The distinguished awardees, accompanied by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye, and other high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Education, were warmly received at the Governor’s Office.

Governor Oyebanji, visibly thrilled by these remarkable achievements, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to curriculum development, innovative teaching methods, and the creation of a conducive learning environment. He expressed confidence that the impact of these initiatives would become increasingly evident in schools across the state, beginning next year.

Mrs. Elizabeth Adeyemi, the Best Primary School Teacher, and Mrs. Funmilayo Ibitoye, the Principal of St. Louis Grammar School, extended their heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for the various support programs and improved welfare packages for teachers in Ekiti State.

In another noteworthy development, Governor Oyebanji played host to Miss Flourish Ajibola, the National Spelling Bee Champion, who emerged as the overall victor in the national competition held in Port Harcourt. Flourish, a student of Saint Lawrence Metropolitan School Adi Ekiti, was accompanied by the school’s Proprietor, Elder Lawrence Oluwafemi.

Governor Oyebanji lauded Flourish’s achievement and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a level playing field for both public and private schools in the state. Flourish Ajibola commended the state government’s efforts in advancing the education system.

Elder Oluwafemi, the School Proprietor, attributed the success to the unwavering support received from the state government.

As a crowning moment, Flourish Ajibola will represent Nigeria in the prestigious World Spelling Bee competition scheduled to take place in Ethiopia this coming December, marking yet another triumph for Ekiti’s educational excellence.
