Ekiti State’s Aluko Continues In-Depth Study of Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.
Ekiti State’s Commissioner for Environment, Chief Mrs. Tosin Aluko Ajisafe, along with her dedicated team, continues her comprehensive study of the acclaimed Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. Their journey into the heart of Lagos’ environmental initiatives takes them on a revealing tour of key departments and agencies.
Their first stop was at the Department of Public Facilities Management, responsible for managing domestic wastewater and maintaining sewerage networks and treatment plants in Lagos. This vital department plays a pivotal role in maintaining the city’s sanitation and environmental health.
Moving forward, the Ekiti team visited the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, where they received commendation from the Executive Director. Lagos State boasts an impressive workforce of seventeen thousand sweepers operating in shifts, a network of around four hundred and fifty Private Sector Partnerships (PSP), and five strategically located dump sites. This visit provided valuable insights into effective waste management.
Continuing their exploration, the team made their way to the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO), where they were warmly welcomed by Executive Secretary, Mrs. Funke Adepoju. Her elation at their visit reflected the high regard for LASWARCO’s work in regulating water resources and ensuring quality standards in Lagos.
The enlightening tour concluded with a visit to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), commonly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI). Established in 2003, this agency plays a crucial role in maintaining general cleanliness, preventing street-side food sales, and enforcing environmental sanitation laws.
