Former Ekiti Governor Urges New Commissioners: Prioritize Service Delivery and Value Addition.

In an address delivered at the ongoing retreat in Ado-Ekiti, former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has issued a clarion call to recently appointed commissioners and special advisers. Dr. Fayemi’s counsel centers on a steadfast commitment to exceptional service delivery, aimed at enhancing the efficacy of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.

Praising the commendable strides achieved under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership, Dr. Fayemi underscored the imperative for the newly appointed officials to perceive their roles as pivotal contributors to the state’s progress. He urged them to abstain from actions that could hinder progress and emphasized the significance of their dedication to service, characterizing it as a selfless act of sacrifice.

Reflecting on Governor Oyebanji’s exemplary qualities, Dr. Fayemi praised the incumbent’s ability to connect with the populace irrespective of political affiliations, thus expanding the government’s reach and garnering widespread support. He humorously noted that the administration had seemingly transformed the state into a “one-party” entity – playfully dubbed the “Ekiti Party.”

However, Dr. Fayemi cautioned against the potential for internal divisions and advised against becoming obstacles within the system. He enjoined the commissioners to perceive their appointments as a privilege and to align their actions with the state’s 30-year master plan and the Oyebanji administration’s six-pillar development agenda. This, he emphasized, would facilitate the desired value addition.

Turning his attention to political dynamics, Dr. Fayemi extended a word of caution to the new appointees. He urged them to exercise restraint, avoiding the temptation to assert undue influence over their respective local government areas. Instead, he implored them to honor the established leaders and elders within the party and concentrate their efforts on their governmental responsibilities.

In response, Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to former Governor Fayemi for his participation in the retreat, despite the short notice. The event serves as a testament to the collaborative spirit and shared commitment to the betterment of Ekiti State.
