EKS-WAMA COMMITTED TO EFFICIENT SERVICE DELIVERY-OSALUSI

...calls on residents to play their part.

The Ekiti State Waste management authority EKS-WAMA is committed to the wellbeing of the state as it has commenced another round of aggressive campaign to discourage the indiscriminate dumping of refuse by residents.

General Manager of the agency Engr. Ayoola Osalusi made the statement on Thursday while speaking with jiroltv in Ado Ekiti on the efforts of the governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration on keeping the state away from epidemic through an efficient waste disposal structures.

Osalusi explained that the agency has developed various workable solution to the menace like arrest and prosecution of waste management law offenders in the stater with option of fines or community service, even up to displaying this on the state’s television.

 

The aim according to him was not directed at any group or individual but light measures to discourage tendencies of residents improperly disposing their waste at the detriment of other innocent people in the state.

He said the governor Biodun Oyebanji administration has spent alot in recent months on achieving a healthier Ekiti with the provision of equipment and personnel to achieve this and the equally experienced and never tired workforce is doing justice to the mandate.

He went further to mention the impact of the administration on walking the talk to include the inclusion of procurement of compactor vehicles to compliment the ones already on ground by the governor Oyebanji’s administration in the budget and that the process is ongoing with assurance that it will be procured soon to make the work easier.

He said governor Oyebanji has also increased the salaries of the over 600 sweepers in the Agency to boost their moral and indeed that is evident in the efficiency of the sweepers.

Similarly, governor Biodun Oyebanji has also made regular provision of safety gadgets for the sweepers in the line of duty while sweeping the highways a demonstration that the welfare of workers should not be limited to increased salaries but improved working environment and equipment for efficiency.

Osalusi explained that inorder to perform the job effectively the Agency has already done an enumeration exercise to properly map out areas to focus.

He said Ado is divided into four Areas after the enumeration to know the number of houses and streets to effective service delivery.

According to him AREA ONE consists Ado-Ilawe road, NTA and GRA.

AREA TWO consists Basiri, Adebayo left side, Olorunda and Olorunshogo.

AREA THREE is Oke-ila, Housing and Adebayo right, while AREA FOUR is Odo-Ado.

He said inorder to spread it’s tentacles to other parts of the state the agency has been in talks with the various chairmen of the local government areas and LCDAs to institute this.

The General Manager EKS-WAMA, Engr. Osalusi maintained that the agency is working round the clock to achieve this mandate and remains committed to the course assuring residents that officials of the agency is there to serve them.

He however solicited for the support of residents to achieve this because a clean Ekiti is a collective responsibility where everyone has a role to play calling on them to play their part well.
